ABOUT MASA
Since opening its doors in April 2023, Masa has represented an alternative cultural value that challenges conformity and corporate norms. Guests, whether loyal regulars (affectionately known as Masians) or curious newcomers, are invited to make themselves at home. At Masa, you won't find an uptight atmosphere; instead, it's an unstuffy, unpretentious environment where you feel like you’re at a friend’s house. Our space boasts a well-stocked fridge filled with natural wines and great dishes to satisfy all tastes.
The idea of Masa was born out of a passion for community and connection, and it was brought to life by Dani Bajc and Antonella Tignanelli, who envisioned a space that transcends the ordinary. We are deeply committed to sustainability, prioritizing responsible consumption, minimizing waste, and supporting select winemakers and food producers, all while fostering the well-being of the environment. Masa proudly champions eclectic, family-run, and female winemakers, curating a selection of deep-cut natural wines ranging from Spain, Slovenia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Italy, Austria, France, and beyond.
People working in Masa are at the core of the experience, setting the tone with curated vinyls spinning amidst the chatter. This creates a convivial environment of mutual understanding and open conversation, enhancing the enjoyment of our excellent wines and food.
The essence of Masa is perhaps beautifully captured in the words of Tim Maia: “We’re gonna rule the world, don’t you know, don’t you know. We’re gonna do it together.”
Masa Universe
At Masa, we're proud to showcase our select collaborations, partnerships, and creative ventures that embody our DNA. We engage in wine collaborations out of respect for winemakers, helping them reach new markets while learning and having fun with our team. We always carefully select partners who share our values and respect for nature, and ensuring that our projects align with our commitment to sustainability.
Guerrilla
Guerrilla, our first pet-nat, is the result of our friendship with dear Niloufar, known for her dedication to natural and artisanal winemaking and the collaborative efforts of the Masa Vins family. The idea of creating this wine emerged when we discovered an abandoned vineyard in Penedés. Inspired by this discovery, we undertook a small anarchic action to pick and use what was once forgotten and create our own delicious wine from the unused grapes.
The wine consists of 80% Xarel•lo from these vineyards and 20% Muscatel, with 8 days of maceration. This combination results in a summery, bubbly wine with citrus, saline notes, and a soft bitter almond finish, complemented by the gentle aroma of muscatel.
Niloufar, a winemaker of strong convictions, was born and raised in Rotterdam and has gained global experience and made a name for herself in the world of wine. She now channels this extensive understanding into her small but mighty cellar in Penedés. Vibrant and determined, Niloufar produces wines that deeply reflect her personality and the places, people, and experiences that inspire her.
FREE BOBBY
Free Bobby, our 2023 summer wine is a vibrant product of a fantastic collaboration with Carlos Rodriguez, a passionate winemaker known for his work in sustainable viticulture and celebrated for his dedication to preserving traditional winemaking methods, side by side with Masa Vins.
Born in Selva Vins Celler, a family-run winery nestled in the Sierra Norte of Mallorca, Free Bobby is crafted from 100% Callet, a grape variety known as the Royal Mallorquin grape. This summery, semi-carbonated wine undergoes 7 days of maceration, resulting in fruity notes of pomelo and passion fruit, with a refreshing 11% alcohol content. Free Bobby is your perfect glou-glou wine for the summer, offering a light and joyful drinking experience.
Both of our beautiful and playful labels were thoughtfully crafted by the talented Ana Dominguez, whose artistic vision perfectly captures the spirit and character of our wines, bringing a vibrant touch to every bottle.
